Clubs raise funds for Parkinson's

League 2 clubs Clyde and East Stirlingshire are both holding events this weekend to highlight Parkinson’s disease, just a few days after Margo MacDonald, who had the condition, passed away.

The Bully Wee are using their Hall of Fame Dinner this Friday to raise funds in what is Parkinson's Awareness Week.

The Shire, who formed a season-long partnership with the Parkinson’s UK Charity back in July, will again carry out a range of activities at their game against Annan.

Chairman Tony Ford, who suffers from Parkinson’s, said: “Sadly Parkinson’s Awareness Week has seen a fellow sufferer and campaigner in Margo MacDonald pass away. Her positive manner over the years has been inspirational, and I and others will continue to work hard to find a cure.

“We have worked with Parkinson’s UK all season and even launched a third-choice strip that carries a supportive message which we have worn and donated all the proceeds from. It is great that another community club like Clyde are also joining in to help find a cure.”
