The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland internationalist began his career with Arsenal and can count Sunderland, Falkirk, Celtic and Hibernian among his former clubs.
He will wear the No 9 shirt for Gary Holt's side on his return to the Scottish Premiership after two years playing abroad.
