There are no matches in cinch League 2 due to the second round of the Scottish Cup but there's a full card across the Championship and League 1.
Partick Thistle v Queen's Park - cinch Championship - Saturday 3.00pm
It could hardly be tighter in the second tier. Thistle top the table on goal difference from Inverness CT but Queen's Park are only three points off the pace despite being down in sixth place. Ian McCall's men go into this one on the back of a 4-1 defeat at Pittodrie in the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup on Wednesday night but they were 2-1 winners at Hamilton Accies last weekend. Thistle are unbeaten in five home league games so far - three wins and two draws - including a 5-1 thrashing of Morton in their last Firhill outing on October 1.
Queen’s Park were tenants at Firhill last season and are now based at Ochilview as redevelopment work continues at Lesser Hampden. The Spiders are playing in the Championship for the first time in 40 years and are firmly in the promotion mix after 11 matches. They beat the Jags 3-2 back in August and that result sparked a superb run of five league wins out of six – the only setback being a defeat at Dundee. Owen Coyle’s side have seen their form dip of late, with defeats to Morton and heavily to Ayr United before a 1-1 draw with bottom club Arbroath last weekend.
Montrose v Dunfermline – cinch League 1 – Saturday 3.00pm
There’s an intriguing encounter in store at Links Park as fourth-placed Montrose host James McPake’s league leaders.
Dunfermline have a four-point advantage over FC Edinburgh and Falkirk at the top of the table after beating struggling Clyde 2-0 at New Douglas Park on Tuesday. The Pars are the only team still unbeaten across the SPFL and have yet to concede a single goal on their travels, notching up four wins and a draw in the process. A late Nikolay Todorov goal was all that separated the sides at East End Park in August and it’s likely to be tight again this weekend.
Stewart Petrie has done an outstanding job at Links Park – the Gable Endies have finished in the top four in each of the last four seasons, having spent the previous 22 years in the bottom division. Montrose have lost just one of their six home league games this term and are in good form. They have recently beaten Airdrie (4-2) and Clyde (3-1) and drew 1-1 with Falkirk last Saturday.
Can Petrie lead Montrose to victory against the club where he spent a decade as a player, or will the Pars extend their unbeaten run and take another step towards promotion at the first attempt?
