Cowdenbeath’s 19 year old midfielder Danny Mackay is battling back after nearly 2 years out of the game with a cruciate ligament injury. The Blue Brazilian made a 24 minute appearance as a substitute for the club’s under-19 side last weekend in a 6-2 victory over East Stirlingshire, ironically the club his problems began against.
Mackay was injured during the First Leg of his side’s Play-Off semi-final against Jim McInally’s men in May 2009 and a comeback in April 2010 was halted after a brief appearance in the first team as a substitute against Stenhousemuir when he aggravated the injury.
Central Park boss Jimmy Nicholl said, “It has been a hard shift for the boy but he has put the hours in. We will take our time with him but I am sure he wants to be giving me a problem as soon as possible.”
