Albion Rovers midfielder Simon Marriot turned up at Cliftonhill on Saturday for his side’s game against Arbroath well prepared for a role on the substitutes’ bench only to find out he was actually playing.
The Coatbridge side won 1-0 with Marriot playing a key role with Manager Paul Martin explaining what happened by saying, “Simon thought he was going to be a sub so he came to the game with three hot water bottles full for himself and the other subs to share, however Barry Russell picked up a knock and he started.”
“He gave a great performance for a guy in his first year at a Senior level and his team-mates on the bench were delighted that he had brought the hot water bottles.”
