Aiden McGeady scored Celtic's 1000th SPL goal as they beat Motherwell 3-2 in a thrilling match at a foggy Fir Park to stay two points clear at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Georgios Samaras fired Celtic in front in 14 minutes but Lukas Jutkiewicz equalised and Mark Reynolds steered Motherwell 2-1 up at the break. McGeady's stunning landmark strike made it 2-2 and Marc-Antoine Fortune settled it with a fantastic finish in 79 minutes after coming on as a substitute. Barry Robson had earlier seen a penalty saved by keeper John Ruddy.
Kris Boyd netted another double to take his SPL tally for the season to 12 as Rangers eased to a 3-0 victory over St Johnstone at Ibrox. Boyd pounced inside the first minute and added a penalty before the interval. Nacho Novo wrapped things up early in the second half.
Third-placed Hibernian extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches but had to settle for a fourth successive away draw as they shared the spoils 1-1 at Kilmarnock. Mark Burchill broke the deadlock with his first goal for Killie in 54 minutes but Anthony Stokes soon had Hibs level.
Dundee United remain in fourth spot and are still unbeaten away from home after a 0-0 draw at Hearts. The visitors could have had all three points but Danny Cadamarteri, who scored twice against Hearts on the opening weekend, saw his second-half penalty saved by Marian Kello.
It was a good afternoon for Hamilton who are up to seventh thanks to a 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie. On-loan Dundee hitman Mickael Antoine-Curier gave Accies a first-half lead but they were pegged back by Gary McDonald's 75th-minute leveller. Midfielder James Wesolowski, on loan from Leicester, grabbed the winner with his first ever senior goal in 80 minutes.
Eddie May's Falkirk remain four points adrift at the bottom of the table and without an away win but they hit back to earn a 1-1 draw against St Mirren in Paisley. A tremendous long-range goal from Michael Higdon against his old club gave Saints a 53rd-minute advantage but former Newcastle striker Carl Finnigan popped up with a precious equaliser just two minutes from time.
