The 24-year-old was with Derby County as a youngster and played non-league football with Mickleover Sports before moving to Glanford Park in the summer.
Dales joins fellow new recruits Craig Curran (Dundee United), Andrew Davies (Hartlepool United) and Seny Dieng (Queens Park Rangers, loan) at the Kilmac Stadium at Dens Park.
