Former St Mirren, Dumbarton and Hamilton Accies striker Jon McShane has joined the growing Scottish contingent at English Northern League 1 leaders Celtic Nation.
The 22 year old was released by the Accies at the end of January and trained with Dunfermline and Fleetwood Town before getting the chance to join the Carlisle based side that are managed by former Celtic coach and Ross County manager Willie McStay.
Former Queen of the South players Willie Gibson and Colin McMenamin are also in their ranks with McShane signing last Friday and he was on the bench as his new side defeated Hebburn Town 6-0 the following day.
McStay said: “We had hoped to have Jon signed a few weeks ago but the chance to go to Fleetwood came up for him. That delayed things but he is our player now and he will add a lot of fire-power to our team.”
“He did well in Scotland and I am delighted to have him here.”
McShane added: “I came down a month ago and played in a trial game however I wanted to try things at Fleetwood as well. This is a club that wants to go places and that I am looking forward to my time here.”
