Albion Rovers have recalled goalkeeper Ryan McWilliams from his loan spell at East Stirling as regular number one at Cliftonhill, Chris McCluskey faces up to six weeks out after undergoing surgery on a back compliant.
The Shire agreed to the cancellation of the loan deal that was due to expire in January and Grant Hay will now take over between the sticks for the Third Division men.
Shire Head Coach John Coughlin said, “In the circumstances we felt we had to agree to the request and whilst it is disappointing news it is the risk you take when you sign players on loan.”
“It happened last season with Craig Winter and unfortunately it has happened again but it gives Grant Hay the opportunity to resume his career as first choice shot-stopper. He did well for us in pre-season but lost his place when he was on holiday.”
