Livingston’s plans for next season have been dealt a major blow with the news that skipper Simon Mensing will be out until after Christmas with a knee injury.
The 31-year-old, who started his career 14 years ago at Wimbledon, played for Stenhousemuir, Clyde, St Johnstone, Motherwell, Hamilton Accies, Morton and Raith Rovers before joining the Lions last summer on a two-year deal.
Damage to Mensing’s posterior cruciate ligament was assessed last Thursday and he was told he faces an operation and up to nine months out.
Manager John McGlynn said: “It is a real blow for us and for Simon. He is a big player in our dressing room and on the pitch. Obviously our plans for next season will need to accommodate such a loss.
“We will support Simon throughout his injury and hopefully get him back playing early in 2015.”
