Montrose legend Sean Dillon pens new deal

The 40-year old defender has committed his future to the Gable Endies until the summer of 2025

Montrose have announced that player/coach Sean Dillon has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the Angus club until the end of 2024/25.

Dillon has consistently been a key player for the Links Park club since signing from Dundee United in June 2017.

At 40 years old, the defender is showing no signs of slowing down and continues to be a reliable option in the heart of the Montrose back line.

The Irishman has made over 250 appearances for the 'Mo, earning the League 2 Player of the Season award in Montrose's title-winning 2017/18 campaign and continuing to flourish for the club in League 1 across the last six years.

Montrose boss Stewart Petrie told the club website: “We are absolutely delighted to have Sean’s services secured for another year. It is a tribute to his professionalism, attitude and commitment that he continues to perform at such a high level despite now being in his 40s.

“His experience and leadership qualities speak for themselves, and we plan to exploit this even further going forward through his coaching role by seeing Sean play a bigger part in weekly training sessions.”
