The former Motherwell, Sheffield United and Brighton player has signed on loan until the end of the season, with a one-year permanent deal to follow.
Hibs boss Jack Ross told the club website: "Jamie is a player of proven quality in the top flight of Scottish football, who has also picked up great experience in England and with the national team. He offers us another option out wide to complement the creative players we can already call upon."
