East Fife boss Gary Naysmith has signed Spanish defender Julen Etxabeguren Leanizbarrutia.
The 23-year-old was in Real Sociedad's 25-man squad for the Champions League last season before moving to Scotland in the summer to attend university.
Leanizbarrutia has been training with the League 2 club and has now put pen to paper at Bayview.
Naysmith said: "He has been outstanding in training and in bounce games and it has been frustrating waiting to get everything in place to sign him. He will be an amateur just now and then we will look to move him to a professional contract in January.”
