East Region Junior Champions have moved quickly to replace departing boss Willie Newbigging with man of many clubs Paul Ronald, who was recently on the coaching staff of Queen’s Park and Stenhousemuir.
Forty year old Ronald had a 17 year playing career that started at Clyde in 1991 and ended at Queen’s Park in 2008 with 8 steps in-between during which time he won the Second Division title with Clyde and Airdrie, whilst also gaining promotion with Queens Park and playing in a Challenge Cup Final.
Ronald is looking forward to his posting as he explained, “To be honest I was taken aback when my old team Queen’s Park played Bo'ness United in the Senior Scottish Cup at Newtown Park last season. The atmosphere was incredible and showed how well the club is supported and backed by the fans. It also showed how good a team Bo’ness are and they deserved their victory that day. I am very much looking forward to experiencing this atmosphere first hand.”
“For the past two years I have been working in the SFL Under-19 league with Queens Park and Stenhousemuir and I am delighted to be taking this next step in management at Bo’ness United.
Ronald added, “I must thank the committee in seeing the potential in my coaching and management ability. I am looking forward to preparing the team for the new season and working closely with everyone at the club to emulate and surpass the successes of the previous two seasons on the field of play.”
