O'Brien opts to skip surgery

Morton wingers wants back playing quickly

Morton winger David O’Brien, who was injured in the Greenock side’s historic 1-0 win over Celtic in the Scottish League Cup last month, has put off surgery in a bid to get back playing quicker.

The 29-year-old dislocated a shoulder in the Cappielow side’s glory night and was given the chance to go for an operation recently but opted against it.

Assistant manager Mark McNally said: “David could be back in four weeks but he runs the risk of dislocating his shoulder again. If he goes for surgery he would be out for months but would get it fixed. He wants to get back playing quickly and you have to admire that.”
