Paul Hartley brings experienced front-man on board

Winters signs on at Alloa

Robbie Winters in action for Alloa AthleticAlloa moved yesterday to strengthen their pool further for their Third Division campaign by signing former Dundee United, Aberdeen and Livingston striker Robbie Winters until the end of the season.

The 36 year old, who was capped by the National side once and also played for Brann Bergen in Norway, before signing for Livingston in 2009, has just returned to Scotland after a spell in Icelandic football. Winters has experience of the Third Division as he picked up a winners medal during his stay with Livi which ended in the summer after Gary Bollan’s men had lifted the Second Division to secure back to back promotions.

Winters played as a trialist for the Wasps last week in a Stirlingshire Cup tie against Falkirk and did more than enough to impress Recreation Park manager Paul Hartley who said, “Robbie’s experience will be invaluable to us and he showed in our recent game against Falkirk that his touch and movement is still of a really high standard.”

“He will feature against East Stirling this weekend if International Clearance comes through on time.”
