Hibernian Premier Sports Cup

Premier Sports Cup Final Key Players - Hibernian

We look ahead to Sunday's cup final clash and examine who could hold the keys to success for the Hibees!

Martin Boyle – Hibernian’s best player, Boyler electrified the Hibees’ semi-final win over Rangers with an incredible first half hat-trick. Comfortable playing on either flank or (as he was in the semi-final), through the middle. The Australian international’s lightning quick pace, ability to take players on and eye for goal make him a defender’s nightmare. Boyle will surely have to be at the top of his game if Hibs are to lift the cup this weekend.

Ryan Porteous – A no-nonsense, tough tackling centre half. In addition to his defensive abilities, Porteous’ passing from the back is key to Hibernian’s attacking play. Porteous is the glue which holds the Hibs back line together. With over 100 Hibernian appearances to his name at just 22 years old, Porto’s best years are still ahead of him. Sunday’s final is an opportunity for the boyhood Hibee to pick up senior silverware for the first time in his career. He will have to be on top form to suppress Celtic’s potent attacking talent.

Christian Doidge – The powerful Welsh forward got off to a flying start in 21/22, with two goals in his first two cinch Premiership appearances. But injury issues have hampered his playing time, with Doidge missing a large chunk of the season between August and November. Back to fitness now, the striker will be looking to recapture the form which endeared him to the Hibs fans in the 19/20 season. A goal on Sunday could be the perfect catalyst to kick-start Doidge’s season.
