The SPFL has today confirmed the fixture list for the group stage of the 2024/25 Premier Sports Cup, following Wednesday’s draw at Hampden Park.
New Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin’s first game as manager in SPFL competitions will be the first of five matches selected for live coverage on Premier Sports. The club’s trip to play Queen of the South on Saturday July 13 will be broadcast on the channel, kick-off 5.15pm.
The other TV fixtures are Hibernian v Queen’s Park (Tuesday July 16, ko 7.45pm), Dundee United v Ayr United (Saturday July 20, ko 5.15pm), Aberdeen v Airdrieonians (Tuesday July 23, ko 7.45pm) and Motherwell v Partick Thistle (Sunday July 28, ko 3.00pm).
A total of 80 games will be played over five matchdays across the group stage, involving 37 SPFL clubs plus Highland League winners Buckie Thistle, Highland League runners-up Brechin City and Lowland League champions East Kilbride.
The eight group winners and three best runners-up will join European representatives Celtic, Rangers (who are the current holders of this trophy), Heart of Midlothian, Kilmarnock and St Mirren in the last 16 on the weekend of August 17/18.
The quarter-finals will be played on the weekend of September 21/22 and the semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of November 2/3. The 2024/25 Premier Sports Cup final will take place at Hampden Park on Sunday December 15.
SPFL Chief Operating Officer Calum Beattie said: “We are pleased to be able to announce the schedule and TV selections for the group stage of next season’s Premier Sports Cup and very much look forward to the tournament kicking off in mid-July.
“Today’s publication of the fixture list follows the recent announcement of record prize and TV money of over £3.5m for the 2024/25 Premier Sports Cup, which will see the winners receive £400,000 and each participating club guaranteed at least £30,000.
