Premier Sports Cup: MD5 Review

A round-up of Saturday's final group games

Group A

Aberdeen qualified for the second round of the Premier Sports Cup with a 6-0 demolition of Dumbarton at Pittodrie. Airdrieonians secured one of the best runner-up spots after they defeated Queen of the South 2-0 at home.

Group B

Falkirk finished top of Group B after a 4-0 thashing of local rivals Stenhousemuir with Ross MacIver at the double. Ayr United were 3-2 winners against Highland League side Buckie Thistle but they finished in third place in the group on goal difference to allow Dundee United to claim second place.

Group C

Queen's Park were comprehensive 6-0 winners at home to William Hill League 1 outfit Kelty Hearts to finish second in Group C with nine points and a plus 11 goal difference. Hibernian topped the section with a 4-0 victory over Peterhead at Easter Road.

Group D

Simon Murray was the hat-trick hero for Dundee as Tony Docherty's team were 6-0 winners against Inverness CT to make it four wins from four games. Arbroath finished their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Bonnyrigg Rose.

Group E

The Spartans are in the last 16 of the competition after Cammy Russell's 85th minute goal gave the William Hill League 2 outfit a 1-0 win at Livingston to beat the Lions to top spot in Group E. Cove Rangers ended their group campaign with a 2-1 win over Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park.

Group F

Braces from Adama Sidibeh and Benji Kimpioka helped St. Johnstone to a 5-1 triumph over East Fife to emerge as Group F's leading lights. Alloa Athletic lost out 2-1 to Greenock Morton with the Wasps finishing second in the section. 

Group G

Craig Brown's goal was enough for Montrose to edge past Clyde. Motherwell and Partick Thistle bring the group stages to a close on Sunday, LIVE on Premier Sports at 3pm with the winner topping the group.

Group H

Ronan Hale continued his fine start to life with Ross County as his double helped the Staggies ease past Stirling Albion with a 3-0 win enough to maintain their 100% record. Raith Rovers and Hamilton Academical played out a 1-1 draw in Fife with Rovers gaining a bonus point with a 5-3 penalty shootout win.
