St Mirren knocked Heart of Midlothian out of the Premier Sports Cup, winning 5-4 on penalties in the last 16 of the competition after it finished 1-1 in Paisley. Aberdeen saw off Greenock Morton 3-0 at Cappielow while Partick Thistle defeated Ayr United 2-0 at Firhill.
Motherwell beat St Johnstone 1-0 after extra time at McDiarmid Park while Rangers were 4-2 winners against Alloa Athletic at Ibrox in the late game.
The remaining last-16 ties take place on Sunday - Kilmarnock host Dundee United and Livingston welcome Hibernian to West Lothian.
