The Scottish Premier League and Mitre today announced a four-year extension to their existing partnership. The new deal will see Mitre continue as official ball supplier to the Premierleague until 2011.
Mitre has supplied the SPL with top quality match balls since its inception in 1998 and were proud to join in celebrating the 5000th Bank of Scotland Premierleague goal last year - every one scored with a Mitre ball.
The brand is committed to providing Scotland's top flight with pioneering performance product. The personalised club badged balls, introduced for the 2006/07 season, are an example of the brand's innovative approach to product development.
Lex Gold, Executive Chairman of the SPL, commented on the deal: "Mitre Sports have been excellent partners to the SPL since its inception.
"Our clubs continue to be involved with Mitre's innovative team in the on-going development of their world-class match ball. We are pleased to have them on board for another four seasons."
Gary Hibbert, Brand Director of Mitre International, said: "We are delighted to be involved with the Scottish Premier League for another four years.
"It is important for a sponsorship relationship like this to be based on mutual and shared goals and aspirations; we very much look forward to working with the SPL over the next few years both at the top end of the game and at grassroots".
NotesEstablished in England in 1817, Mitre is recognised as the world's first supplier of footballs. Now, leading the way internationally in the manufacture of balls, boots and accessories for football, rugby, netball and cricket, Mitre continues to push the boundaries of sporting technology.
Mitre is official ball supplier to The Scottish Premier League, The Coca Cola Football League, and The Football Association of Wales.
