Queen’s Park marked their first game back at Lesser Hampden with a 6-2 success over Ayr United in the Development League West on Wednesday night.
The Spiders had not been able to use their training pitch for a year as it had been converted to a warm-up track for the Commonwealth Games but they were handed it back last weekend and the Honest Men were the first visitors.
Ayr scored two goals early on but a hat trick from Stuart Hay, a double from Billy Mortimer and a goal from Ryan Smith made it a happy home-coming for the amateurs.
Head coach Gus MacPherson said: “It is great to be able to use such a fantastic facility and to mark the club’s first game on the new pitch with a win.”
