Raith Rovers SPFL Trust Trophy

Raith Rovers: Three to watch

Some of the key players for Raith Rovers ahead of Sunday's SPFL Trust Trophy final against Queen of the South at the Excelsior Stadium...

Jamie MacDonald
The signing of Jamie MacDonald was seen as something of a coup for Raith Rovers when he arrived at Stark's Park in 2020, and his performances since have justified that opinion. A calming presence behind the Raith defence, his shot-stopping and ability to collect the ball under pressure makes him one of the best goalkeepers outside the top flight. After missing the last match versus Arbroath through injury, his return for the final will be a welcome boost to the side.

Matej Poplatnik
The on-loan Livingston man has had to bide his time for a run of starts at the Kirkcaldy club but, now cemented in the starting XI, he's proving his worth, with goals in his last three starts. Rovers had tended to play one up top this term, but a move to a forward two has seen him link up well with fellow front man, Ethon Varian. The 29-year-old is also comfortable dropping deep to link midfield to attack, and his rich vein of form has helped him to grab eight goals and set up four others in all competitions this season.

Aidan Connolly
Now in his second spell at Raith, Aidan Connolly has been one of their most productive outlets this season, playing on the right-hand side of midfield, but comfortable to come inside and support the front men. Raith's second-top scorer this season with nine goals in all competitions, he's assisted a further six, and is bang in form, with goals against Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Arbroath in his last two outings. Raith's most consistent attacking player this term.
