Road to the semis: Rangers have seen off Dunfermline Athletic and Livingston to reach this stage while Hibernian beat Kilmarnock in the last 16 then defeated Dundee United at Tannadice.

League Cup pedigree: Rangers have won this competition a record 27 times, most recently against Celtic in 2010/11. Hibernian have lifted the trophy three times - their last success was in 2006/07 when they thrashed Kilmarnock 5-1 in the final.

Past meetings: This is the first League Cup meeting since 2003/04 when Hibs won the semi-final on penalties after a 1-1 draw. The capital club also came out on top in the 1991/92 semi-final en route to winning the trophy. Rangers beat Hibernian 2-1 in the 1993/94 final at Celtic Park.

This season: Rangers won 2-1 at Ibrox at the beginning of October. The sides meet again in the cinch Premiership at Easter Road on Wednesday December 1. Rangers named Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new manager on Thursday but B team head coach David McCallum will be in the dug-out for the semi-final.

Form: Rangers are unbeaten in domestic football since losing 1-0 to Dundee United at Tannadice on August 7. They beat Ross County 4-2 in their last match a fortnight ago. Hibs haven't played since the 3-1 defeat to Celtic on October 27 - their games with Ross County and Livingston were postponed due to a Covid outbreak.

In the event of a draw: Extra time then penalties, if required, wlll determine the outcome.

Goal-line technology: Will be in use for this weekend's Premier Sports Cup semi-finals.
