RB Leipzig v Rangers preview

Europa League semi-final 1st leg tonight

Rangers are in Germany to play RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final this evening, kick-off 8.00pm.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side have already beaten Borussia Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade and Braga in the knock-out stages of the competition.

It is the Ibrox club's first European semi-final since 2007/08, when they beat Fiorentina on penalties in the UEFA Cup before losing to Zenit in the final.

RB Leipzig defeated Italian side Atalanta in the last eight and are sitting fourth in the Bundesliga but their 15-match unbeaten run was ended by Union Berlin at the weekend.

The second leg is at Ibrox on Thursday May 5, with the winners meeting West Ham United or Eintracht Frankfurt in the final in Seville on Wednesday May 18.

Both teams already have domestic cup finals to look forward to - Rangers play Hearts in the Scottish Cup final on May 21 while it's RB Leipzig v Freiburg the same day in Germany.

The referee for this evening's match is French official Benoit Bastien.
