Round-up of Tuesday's Betfred games

Review of Tuesday's Betfred Cup matchday four fixtures, which included a vital victory for Motherwell and big wins for Ayr United and Hearts.

Alloa Athletic moved to the top of Group A with a 3-0 win away to Elgin City while Ross County - who face the Wasps on Saturday - travel to Arbroath tonight.

St Johnstone are the new leaders in Group B thanks to a 1-0 success against Falkirk at McDiarmid Park but Montrose will return to the summit if they beat Forfar Athletic at Station Park this evening.

Inverness CT retained their 100% record in Group C by defeating Raith Rovers 2-1 in the Highland capital while Hearts saw off 10-man Cowdenbeath 5-0 at Tynecastle. They need to beat ICT in Edinburgh on Sunday to finish top.

Both Group D fixtures are this evening - leaders Dunfermline Athletic head for Glebe Park to play Brechin City and Dundee travel to Balmoor to face Peterhead.

Lawrence Shankland hit his second hat-trick of the season as Ayr United thrashed Stenhousemuir at Somerset Park to stay ahead of Partick Thistle on goal difference ahead of Saturday's Group E meeting at The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill. The Jags were 2-0 winners away to Albion Rovers.

Group F leaders Livingston don't play this midweek but Airdrieonians moved up to second spot with a 4-1 home victory against Annan Athletic and Hamilton Accies saw off Berwick Rangers 4-0 at Shielfield, helped by a Mickel Miller hat-trick.

Conor Sammon's double earned Motherwell a 2-0 Fir Park victory over Group G leaders Queen of the South while Clyde defeated Stranraer 3-1 at Stair Park.

Kilmarnock moved to the top of Group H following a 3-0 win against Lowland League Spartans at Ainslie Park as St Mirren were held to a 0-0 draw by Queen's Park at Hampden, before winning their third penalty shoot-out in a row.
