Raith Rovers lifted the Reserve League Cup for the first time in their history last night with a 2-1 success in the Final of the 2010/11 competition held over from last season.

Raith Rovers FC - Reserve League Cup Champions - Season 2010/11On-loan Hearts youngster Danny Thomson scored the winning goal in the second half to see off hosts Livingston at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium.

The Kirkcaldy men opened the scoring after 25 minutes when winger Scott McBride show home with a low shot from 18 yards, however Livi drew level 8 minutes from the break when former Accrington Stanley striker Rory Boulding slotted home a rebound after David McGurn had done well to parry out a shot.

Thomson netted the winner 10 minutes into the second period when he burst through the home defence to fire home from 16 yards out.

Raith brought on the experienced trio of John Baird, Brian Graham and former Livingston player Allan Walker to ensure that they held on to lift the silverware with Livi’s Ross Docherty dismissed 20 minutes from time after he picked up a second yellow card to round off a miserable night for a young Lions side.
