Following consultation with the SFA's Referee Development Department, the SFL were advised that there would be a clash involving the first choice registered kits of Ayr United FC and Kilmarnock FC.
As the Semi-Final tie will be played at a neutral venue, Cup Competition Rules state that should there be a clash of first choice colours, both clubs will play in their registered second choice kits. However, as both Ayr United FC and Kimarnock FC's registered second choice kits are predominantly yellow and both clubs were keen to wear their first choice kit for this tie, it was agreed to settle the outcome by a toss of the coin.
Both clubs braved the weather to meet at The Park Hotel, Kilmarnock to decide who would have the honour of wearing their first choice kit for this Scottish Communities League Cup Semi Final tie to be played on Saturday, 28th January, 2012 and Ayr United FC Operations Manager, Tracy McTrusty, Kilmarnock FC Club Secretary, Kirsten Callaghan and SFL Executive Assistant, Laura Cameron were all in attendance today.
Kilmarnock won the toss and will therefore have the honour of playing the Semi-Final tie in their traditional first choice colours of blue and white.
