The Scottish Football League has produced a souvenir Matchday Programme for The Co-operative Insurance Cup Semi-Final between Aberdeen and Celtic.
The Matchday Programme has extensive coverage of both Semi-Finalists including an interview with Aberdeen’s recently appointed Manager, Craig Brown, as well as features on captain, Paul Hartley, who has scored in every round of this season’s competition, defenders David McNamee and Zander Diamond, and striker Chris Maguire. Similarly, the Matchday Programme has interviews with the Celtic boss, Neil Lennon, captain Scott Brown, who has won this competition with both Celtic and Hibernian, the Scandinavian defenders, Thomas Rogne and Daniel Majstorovic, midfielder Joe Ledley and striker Anthony Stokes, who has scored in both of the Parkhead club’s ties in this season’s competition to date.
The Matchday Programme also has an exclusive interview with the former Aberdeen and Celtic favourite, Charlie Nicholas, who looks back at some of his favourite moments in this competition with both clubs. The respected SKY TV pundit and newspaper columnist recalls fondly scoring in the 1982/83 League Cup Final as Celtic defeated Rangers 2-1 as well as the League Cup Final in season 1989/90 when he was part of the Aberdeen team that defeated Rangers 2-1.
There are also extensive player profiles on the respective squads for both Semi-Finalists and in addition, other features include an interview with the match referee, a detailed report on Aberdeen’s and Celtic’s “Round by Round” Road to the Semis, a look back at previous League Cup meetings between Aberdeen and Celtic, a detailed feature looking back at the many players that have moved between both clubs over the years, detailed statistical information on this season’s competition as well as a number of action packed photographs.
The Official Match Programme is available both outside and inside Hampden Park priced £3.00 and is an excellent read. For all Aberdeen and Celtic fans, it is a souvenir worth treasuring.
