Scotland's under-17’s squad have travelled to Malta to take part in a week-long training camp that will boost their preparations for UEFA European Under-17 Championships Elite Round that starts on March 9 in Italy as well as the Sky Sports Victory Shield decider against England later in the same month.
Ross Mathie’s young side will play two friendlies against their Maltese counterparts and the National Youth Coach is looking forward to the training camp saying, “This is our eleventh year travelling to Malta and it has always been used to prepare for the under-17s Elite Round which we have qualified for every year bar one. The temperature in Malta is in the mid-60s Fahrenheit and sunny so the players will have benefit of training twice a day and will come back with good level of fitness.
“We’ve also brought in some of our under-16s as it will give some of those players additional preparation for the final Victory Shield match against England.”
