Shire appoint club chaplain

Third Division side bring in Pastor

Third Division side East Stirlingshire have appointed their first-ever chaplain to the club and they have been quick to advise that his role is not to pray for wins to lift John Coughlin’s side off the foot of the SFL.

Pastor Ken Bleakley of Larbert Baptist Church is joining the Shire to help look after the welfare of the staff with club chairman, Tony Ford saying, “I served in the Forces for a number of years and have seen the value a chaplaincy service can bring. Ken will not be leading prayers for Shire wins, but he will be on hand to offer a listening ear for anyone who may have the need to talk about issues they may be having in their own lives.”

Ford added, “We have a young squad of players and we have a duty of care to them not just as footballers but as people and Ken’s input will be essential.”
