Skacel hat-trick ends home wait for Hearts

Czech midfielder Rudi Skacel hit a hat-trick as Hearts beat St Mirren 3-0 at Tynecastle this afternoon as Jim Jefferies' men won at home in the league for the first time this season.

Skacel broke the deadlock after just 75 seconds and added a fine second direct from a free-kick before completing his treble in injury time as Saints made it 20 away games without a win.

Hearts remain two points behind third-placed Motherwell who overcame Dundee United 2-1 at Fir Park thanks to own goals from Scott Severin and Sean Dillon. David Goodwillie had equalised from the spot as Peter Houston's United suffered a rare away defeat.

Aberdeen ended a poor run in style as Colin Calderwood saw his managerial debut for Hibernian end in a 4-2 defeat at Pittodrie. Chris Maguire opened the scoring, Sol Bamba (own goal), Scott Vernon and Paul Hartley (penalty) netted before Colin Nish and Bamba replied.

Inverness CT remain unbeaten away after inflicting a 2-1 defeat on Kilmarnock, where Adam Rooney (penalty) and Jonny Hayes scored for the visitors. Rui Miguel pulled one back.

Danny Grainger's late free-kick earned St Johnstone a 2-1 win at Hamilton. Sam Parkin gave Saints the lead but Simon Mensing levelled from the spot, only for Grainger to settle it.

The first Old Firm game of the season takes place on Sunday when Celtic entertain Rangers. The match between the two teams with 100% records is live on Sky Sports at 12.45pm.
