Dumbarton's pursuit of striker pays off

Dumbarton Manager Alan Adamson’s dogged pursuit of striker Craig Dargo has finally paid off as the 34-year-old striker has joined the Sons until the end of the season.

Craig Dargo in action for Partick ThistleThe former Raith Rovers, Kilmarnock, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St. Mirren front man has been a free agent since January following his release from Partick Thistle and Adamson has been after him since.

The Sons boss said, “We have been trying to bring Craig on board for a wee while now and he was training with us a couple of months ago, however he had the chance of a club in America and he wanted to give that a go.”

“We remained in touch and when that never worked out he came back to us and we are delighted to get him here. Craig will add firepower and competition to our striking options and he had a good debut against Arbroath even though we were beaten 2-0 on Saturday.”
