The SPFL is gearing up for one of its most competitive cinch Championship finales ever – with nine teams having it all to play for with just two weekends of fixtures remaining.
Dundee sit just one point ahead of Queen’s Park at the top of the table and have the chance to extend their lead if they defeat Cove Rangers at the Kilmac Stadium tonight at 7.45pm, which will be shown live on BBC Scotland.
Depending on results, Gary Bowyer’s men could then face a dramatic final day title decider with Owen Coyle’s side – who travel to Greenock Morton at 3pm this Saturday – next Friday at 7.45pm at Ochilview, which will also be screened live on BBC Scotland.
Just eight points separate Dundee in first spot on 59 points, down to Greenock Morton in sixth position on 51 points, with every club in between either competing for automatic promotion or to clinch a play-off spot.
At the bottom of the table, Hamilton Academical sit above tenth placed Cove Rangers on goal difference – with both sides on 30 points – and Arbroath are just ahead of the bottom two spots on 33 points in eighth spot.
Depending on this weekend’s results, Dick Campbell’s men face a potentially crucial game against John Rankin’s side at Gayfield Park on the final day.
Raith Rovers in seventh position are the only team in the division who can neither reach the play-offs, or be dragged into the relegation battle.
Neil Doncaster, SPFL chief executive, said: “It is great to see so much still to play for in the cinch Championship with just two weekends left.
“It promises to be a hugely exciting climax to the season, with automatic promotion, the playoff spots and relegation places all yet to be decided.
“The compelling stories right across all four of our divisions demonstrate why our game continues to have, by some margin, the highest attendance per capita in European football.”
In a weekend of big fixtures, final play-off positions have still to be confirmed in cinch League One with Queen of the South, Montrose and FC Edinburgh all competing to make it into the top four before the season ends.
At the bottom of the table, Clyde could secure ninth spot and relegate Peterhead depending on this weekend’s results.
And in cinch League Two, every club outside of title winners Stirling Albion and second placed Dumbarton still have to confirm their final league position.
At the bottom of the table just five points separate seventh placed Stranraer on 41 points, and Albion Rovers on 36 points in the tenth placed relegation play-off spot.
Neil Doncaster added: “We hope that fans enjoy our final two rounds of fixtures across the cinch Championship, League One and League Two, and wish all clubs involved the best of luck for these games.”
