SPFL Trust Trophy - Team of the Round

Falkirk's Paddy Martin named Star Man in the SPFL Trust Trophy Team of the Round!

GK – Paddy Martin (Falkirk)
It was a picture-perfect debut for the Falkirk shot-stopper. He made a fantastic one-on-one save to deny Chris Erskine, saved a penalty kick, notched an assist and kept a clean sheet in the Bairns’ 3-0 win over East Kilbride. He is the Round 1 Star Man!

DEF – Scott Mercer (East Fife)
East Fife are through to the 2nd round after a 1-0 win over St. Johnstone B at Bayview. Mercer bagged the game’s only goal and was solid throughout.

DEF – Ross Meechan (Forfar Athletic)
The Loons defeated Highland League side Formartine United to book their place in the next round. A typically assured performance from the skipper helped the Angus side to keep a clean sheet.

DEF – Craig Barr (Cowdenbeath)
While it took until stoppage time for the Blue Brazil to make the breakthrough at the top end of the pitch away to Fraserburgh, Barr’s defensive capabilities helped to ensure that nothing went in at the other end.

MID – Ross Alexander (Broomhill)
Broomhill recorded a famous 1-0 victory on Wednesday night, defeating League 1 outfit Clyde at the Indodrill Stadium. It was Alexander’s goal that clinched the Lowland League’s side’s place in the next round.

MID – Luca Connell (Celtic B)
The midfielder’s quality and range of passing were on display for all to see as the young Hoops defeated Annan Athletic 2-0 in Airdrie. He helped to control the tempo of the game and was a stand-out for his side.

MID – Charlie McCann (Rangers B)
The former Manchester United youth’s star quality was on show in his side’s 3-2 win over Dumbarton. He was involved in much of the young Gers’ good play and notched an assist for Tony Weston’s goal.

MID – Josh Jack (St. Mirren B)
The former Clyde loanee had a night to remember against Kelty Hearts. His 89th-minute goal forced a penalty shoot-out, before he stepped up and slotted away the deciding spot-kick to send the young Buddies through.

MID – Cammy Graham (Stenhousemuir)
The Warriors looked thoroughly impressive in their 3-0 win over Dundee United B. Graham excelled on the left-hand side and scored a peach of a goal!

FWD – Niah Payne (Peterhead)
The Blue Toon found themselves a goal down to Dundee B after 35 minutes but a double from the young Englishman ensured it would be Peterhead who were heading through to Round 2.

FWD – Kane Hester (Elgin City)
Kane Hester just LOVES scoring goals! Last season’s League 2 top scorer was at it again, netting both Elgin goals in a 2-1 win away to Hibernian B.
