Around 40 players took part in the SPL Exit Trials at Toryglen Football Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
The event, backed by media partner the Scottish Sun and water and energy drink provider Day-Today, gave U19 players being released by SPL clubs the chance to showcase their skills in front of coaches and managers representing clubs from across Scotland and south of the border and hopefully earn a contract for next season.
The group were split into three teams and received coaching from Billy Dodds, Paul Hartley, Gus McPherson and Scottish Sun columnist Andy Goram before taking part in matches later in the day.
Last year’s event was extremely successful with 90% of players finding a club.
Neil Doncaster, SPL Chief Executive, said: “Our clubs do a lot of good work developing young players but it is important we look after the ones who don’t make it and are released at this stage in their careers. The SPL Exit Trials are an important part of that process.
“The trials are now in their fourth year and they provide a great opportunity for players to showcase their skills in front of managers and scouts from clubs across Scotland and England. I wish all the players involved the best of luck for the future.”
