SPL on Real Radio

Real Radio is set to broadcast live commentary of a selection of Scottish Premier League games in the coming season following a deal with the SPL which will widen the listeners' choice of stations for live football. This deal was approved at today’s General Meeting of the SPL clubs at Hampden.

This is the first collaboration between Real Radio and the SPL and it will see the station broadcast eight games across the season. The station has also won the right to provide live goal flashes for a ‘game of the day’ each weekend.

Real Radio’s Ewen and Roughy will provide live commentary in their own inimitable style. The duo host the popular Real Football Phone-In and the addition of live commentary of some of the league’s key games throughout the season will add to the entertainment on their shows. Full details on the games which will be covered will be announced in due course.

Neil Doncaster, Chief Executive of the SPL, commented: “Real Radio’s football programming is hugely popular with our clubs’ fans in the central belt. This deal will increase our coverage of crunch matches and will also allow us to build on our plans to attract more families to our games, a policy in tune with Real Radio’s ethos.”

GMG Radio Scotland’s Acting Managing Director Gavin Bruce said: “This is fantastic news for Real Radio and its listeners. It’s the first time the station has ever had the right to broadcast live commentary of Clydesdale Bank Premier League games and we are sure it will appeal to listeners who love Ewen and Roughy’s style and passion and are keen to listen to live football.”
