Strathclyde Homes Stadium to be renamed?

Sons look for new Stadium backers

Dumbarton FC StadiumDumbarton are on the lookout for a new Stadium sponsor after Strathclyde Homes Limited, who have been the backers of the Sons since they moved into their new home in December 2000, were placed into receivership.

The Second Division club Chief Executive Gilbert Lawrie said, “We have formally written to the receiver handling Strathclyde Homes' affairs to terminate the existing agreement in line with the terms of the contract. On receipt of their confirmation we will actively seek a new stadium sponsor.”

Lawrie added, “Any company who would like to register an interest in the stadium naming rights should contact me in the first instance either by phone or e-mail. Every application will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.”

The ground, affectionately known as ‘The Rock’ due to its proximity to the nearby volcanic crag, was used by Scotland in the past week as their training base for the EURO 2012 games against the Czech Republic and Lithuania and is Dumbarton’s second home after they ended their 121 year stay at Boghead almost 11 years ago.
