Joe Aribo, Kemar Roofe and James Tavernier all scored twice for Steven Gerrard's side, with Scott Arfield and Brandon Barker also on target.
In the earlier match, Celtic - who have two games in hand on the leaders - saw off Motherwell 4-1 at Fir Park. Mohamed Elyounoussi grabbed a hat-trick and Olivier Ntcham also scored for Neil Lennon's team. Motherwell's goal came from defender Declan Gallagher.
