Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View From the Terrace names his SPFL Team of the Week, with four-goal Simon Murray the star man!

GK - Marc McCallum (Forfar Athletic)
The custodian put in a terrific performance at the weekend as Forfar defeated Annan 2-0 at Galabank. The lead remained intact thanks to McCallum saving an Aidan Smith penalty.

DEF - Alistair Johnston (Celtic)
The January signing and Canadian international impressed as Celtic maintained their lead at the top of the cinch Premiership with a routine 2-0 home win over Kilmarnock.

DEF - Connor Goldson (Rangers)
Goldson's return has helped settle the Rangers defence and he won his battle with Steven Fletcher on Sunday to help preserve a clean sheet as Michael Beale's side won 2-0 at Dundee United.

DEF - Alex Gogic (St Mirren)
OK, we're cheating a bit here because Gogic played in the centre of the park against Hearts but I'm sure he'll forgive us for shoehorning him into defence to ensure his inclusion. The Cypriot was excellent in the 1-1 draw, constantly harassing Robert Snodgrass and not letting the ex-Scotland international dictate the flow of the game.

MID - Matty Yates (Stenhousemuir)
Stenhousemuir got off to a winning start in the Gary Naysmith era with a 2-1 win over Stranraer which lifts them into sixth place in the bottom tier (though still three points off the bottom). Yates scored a double to secure an important victory for the Warriors.

MID - Aidan Nesbitt (Falkirk)
The second of four players in our midfield to score a brace. And just like two of the others, Nesbitt netted both his team's goals as Falkirk defeated Montrose in cinch League 1 to move to within three points of Edinburgh in second place.

MID - Charlie Reilly (Albion Rovers)
Reilly grabbed a double as Albion Rovers got one of the more eye-catching results of the weekend, going to Bonnyrigg Rose and winning 4-0 to leap above the home side at the bottom of the table.

MID – Luis ‘Duk’ Lopes (Aberdeen)
The summer signing’s excellent campaign continued with both goals in a 2-0 win over St Johnstone. Jim Goodwin's side had to be patient to end their recent winless run but Duk's quality told in the end as he netted in 74 and 84 minutes.

FWD - Bruce Anderson (Livingston)
Two goals and a strong performance leading the line enabled Livi to go to bottom side Ross County and take all three points to stay just behind Aberdeen in the hunt for Europe.

FWD - Kevin Nisbet (Hibernian)
Lee Johnson got the victory he and his Hibs side needed as they went to Motherwell on Sunday and took advantage of some weak home defending to win 3-2. Nisbet bagged a hat-trick as he continues to impress on his return from injury.

FWD - Simon Murray (Queen’s Park)
How does a man who scored a hat-trick not get the star man award? Well, it's because he did it on the same weekend another player netted four goals! Paul Hartley's return to Cove Rangers was not a happy one as the home side were thumped 6-0 by the cinch Championship leaders. Murray's heroics helped Owen Coyle's side build up a four-point advantage at the top.
