Team of the Week

Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski named star man in the SPFL Team of the Week!

GK – Scott Fox (Cove Rangers)
The Toonsers picked up their first away league win of the season at Firhill on Saturday when Mitch Megginson’s first-half goal was enough for a narrow 1-0 victory. Keeper Scott Fox was in fine form between the sticks, pulling off some key saves to keep a clean sheet against his former club.

DEF – Lee Kilday (Queen’s Park)
Owen Coyle’s side cemented their position at the top of the Championship on Friday night, picking a crucial win over Ayr United (a side who had already beaten the Spiders twice this season) at Ochilview. Skipper Kilday continued his fine form with another imperious defensive display in the 2-0 win.

DEF – Tom Lang (Raith Rovers)
The Rovers extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to seven games with a battling 2-1 victory away to Arbroath. Tom Lang has been such a key player for Raith since his return to the team and he excelled alongside Ryan Nolan at the heart of the defence at Gayfield. A top display from Rovers’ ‘Rolls Royce’ centre half!

DEF – Paul Hanlon (Hibernian)
Hibs continued their recent upturn in form with a 1-0 win over St. Mirren in Paisley, which saw Lee Johnson’s side leapfrog the Buddies into fifth place. There were a number of TOTW contenders from the Cabbage, including goalscorer Elie Youan, but we’ve gone for Hanlon who has been excellent at the back over the past few games.

MID – Seb Ross (Forfar Athletic)
Seb Ross appears to be loving life at Station Park! After a spell struggling for consistent game time at Falkirk, the midfielder has had a new lease of life under Ray McKinnon at the Angus club. Ross was seriously impressive in Saturday’s win over Stranraer. He notched an assist for Stefan McCluskey’s goal, as well as scoring a peach of a first half free-kick himself.

MID – Chris Hamilton (Dunfermline Athletic)
As a fan, there’s nothing quite like watching one of your own bossing it on the park for your club. Boyhood Pars fan Chris Hamilton has generally been a key player for James McPake’s table-topping side all season and Saturday was no different. He fought, dug in and used the ball very well in the middle of the park, helping his side to a 2-0 win over Montrose.

MID – Aaron Mooy (Celtic)
It seems as if Aaron Mooy is finding new levels to his game each and every week. After a slow start at Celtic, the Australian has gone from strength to strength in the heart of Ange Postecoglou’s midfield. He is undoubtedly one of the first names on the teamsheet and showed his class at McDiarmid Park at the weekend, scoring and excelling in a 4-1 win.

MID – Joel Nouble (Livingston)
Livi fans will have been delighted to see the return of their number 19 to the starting line-up on Saturday. Making his first start since November, Nouble quickly showed the Almondvale faithful what they’d been missing. He scored one goal, set up another and was a constant menace on the left flank, whether driving the play forward or tracking back and helping out in defence. A top display in the 3-1 win over Killie!

FWD – Rumarn Burrell (Falkirk)
After a patchy start to the season, it seems as though momentum is now very much with Falkirk. The Bairns remain the only senior side in Britain to have won all their matches in 2023 after Saturday’s away victory over Kelty. Super sub Burrell made the difference, coming off the bench to score a 90th minute winner to keep the Bairns right in the hunt for automatic promotion.

FWD – Bojan Miovski (Aberdeen)
It’s been a difficult few weeks for Aberdeen, but Saturday’s 3-1 win over Motherwell showed the best qualities of this current crop of Dons. Macedonian maestro Bojan Miovski was excellent in the win at Pittodrie. He scored a pair of well-taken goals to take his personal Premiership tally to 14 for the season and send the Dons on their way to a massive victory. He is this week’s Star Man!

FWD – Tommy Goss (Annan Athletic)
Tommy Goss! Tommy Goss! Tommy Goss! The Galabankies’ talisman has been one of this season’s standouts in League 2 and he cemented his place as the division’s leading marksman on 17 league goals with a double at New Dundas Park on Saturday. Annan are currently sat in 3rd place, with Goss’ goals being a huge factor in their march up the table. Could the big striker be the difference in any potential play-off battles?
