Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his SPFL XI with Partick Thistle's Steven Lawless the Star Man...

GK - Kevin Dabrowski (Raith Rovers)

Raith Rovers ended Inverness' 32-game unbeaten run against them on Saturday, winning 1-0 at Stark's Park thanks to Jamie Gullan's 87th-minute winner. While the striker grabbed the winning goal, the home side were grateful to their goalkeeper for making three crucial stops at 0-0 to give them the platform to secure the win. Those saves have earned Kevin Dabrowski a place in this week's top team.

DEF - James Tavernier (Rangers)

Rangers returned from the international break to claim an important 2-0 win over St. Johnstone in Perth. Tavernier helped get them going with a perfectly-weighted cross for Danilo to score the opening goal and the Rangers captain played his part in earning a clean sheet on the road.

DEF - Gregor Buchanan (Stenhousemuir)

The big defender helped himself to a double as Stenny earned the most eye-catching result of the weekend in cinch League 2 as they blew away Stranraer 5-0 at Ochilview. Buchanan's first saw him slam the ball into the net before his second showed off his aerial ability with a wonderfully-placed header.

DEF - Alex Gogic (St Mirren)

The Buddies are up to second in the Premiership after leapfrogging hosts Motherwell with a 1-0 victory at Fir Park. Gogic was outstanding at the back - even earning a battle scar or two for his troubles as Stephen Robinson's side defended resolutely to pick up three points thanks to Scott Tanser's volley. Gogic showed the travelling fans exactly what the win meant to him after the game by leading the celebrations and he can toast a place at the heart of the TOTW back line.

DEF - Mitchell Taylor (Elgin City)

Elgin City won their first league match of the Barry Smith era, defeating Dumbarton 2-0 to lift themselves off the bottom of the cinch League 2 table. While several City players did well in this one, Taylor made a real impression with an aggressive and determined display down the left flank.

MID - Steven Lawless (Partick Thistle)

This week's Star Man comes from Friday night's live cinch Championship match as Partick Thistle weathered a storm against Ayr United before putting the hosts away to claim a 4-0 triumph. Lawless netted twice after the interval including a stunning strike to make it 2-0 and also had a hand in the fourth goal, playing in Tomi Adeolye to score against his old team.

With four goals and four assists in his last eight matches, Lawless is enjoying a real revival at Firhill and will be crucial to Thistle's promotion hopes.

MID - Miller Thomson (Montrose)

Another player who scored twice and assisted another, Thomson was unlucky not to receive the star man award himself after helping Montrose to defeat Edinburgh City in a 5-2 victory in Angus.

The teenager, on loan from Dundee United, was involved in United's Championship opener before making the temporary switch to cinch League 1 and there's sure to be more to come as the season plays out from this promising young player.

MID - Jermaine Hylton (Arbroath)

Arbroath are on a three-match winning streak and sit in fourth place in the cinch Championship after their 4-0 hammering of Airdrieonians. Former Motherwell man Hylton was on target against the Diamonds and the winger has been an excellent addition since returning to Scottish football.

As well as his own scoring feat, Hylton also set up the opener for Michael McKenna and so earns a place in this three-man midfield.

FWD - Kyogo Furuhashi (Celtic)

The cinch Premiership's top scorer is on fire at the moment as he returned from the international break to pick up exactly where he left off. The league leaders had to remain patient against Dundee but Kyogo headed home from Callum McGregor's special delivery before the Japanese striker turned provider for Matt O'Riley to score Celtic's third of the afternoon.

With four league goals in five matches, could a second Premiership golden boot be heading Kyogo's way?

FWD - Lewis McCann (Dunfermline Athletic)

The national stadium is never a bad place to put on a show and Lewis McCann certainly delivered with a double as Dunfermline Athletic beat Queen's Park 2-0 on the Spiders' return to Hampden.

McCann's free-kick from distance found the top corner and left Callan McKenna with no chance in the home goal. McCann, 22, has started the season well and his goals will be key to a successful campaign for the Pars.

FWD - Tommy Goss (Annan Athletic)

Annan Athletic put fellow newly-promoted outfit Stirling Albion to the sword, 3-0 at Galabank. Tommy Goss scored twice with a pair of excellent finishes which show signs that the powerful striker is really finding his feet in cinch League 1.

He completes our Team of the Week line-up for his part in an impressive home victory.
