Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his cinch SPFL XI after the weekend's games...

GK - Ruairidh Adams (Edinburgh City)

Kevin Dabrowski came up big in Raith Rovers' rousing title-challenge victory over Dundee United, Calum Ferrie shone for Queen's Park and Shamal George played a big part in Livingston winning for the first time in 18 league matches.

However, we had to go for a goalkeeper that actually scored a goal! Adams' injury-time equaliser while up for a corner secured a point for a very young Edinburgh City side against Queen of the South at Meadowbank.

DEF - Lewis Mayo (Kilmarnock)

Killie earned themselves a thoroughly deserved 1-1 draw from their trip to Celtic Park. Derek McInnes’ men managed more shots than the reigning champions on their own turf. Mayo was outstanding, completely nullifying the threat of both Luis Palma and Yang Hyun-Jun in the match.

DEF - Michael Nottingham (Livingston)

As mentioned above, Livi got themselves a long-awaited victory in the cinch Premiership with a 1-0 triumph over St Mirren, which takes them to within three points of Ross County. It was a resolute defensive display against the Buddies with Nottingham clearing everything.

DEF - Ayrton Sonkur (Spartans)

What's rarer? A goalkeeper scoring or a centre-back scoring twice in injury-time? It's probably the former, but still, what a day this was for the Spartans centre-back, who managed to turn his side's 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead with his late, late double.

DEF - Keith Watson (Raith Rovers)

Raith Rovers are firmly back in the cinch Championship title race with a 2-1 victory over Dundee United on Friday night. Scott Brown may have scored a screamer to win it, but we're going with Watson for his excellent showing at the back in the face of some threatening Dundee United pressure.

MID - Kai Nugent (Annan Athletic)

Annan are threatening to make the cinch League One battle to avoid ninth place and the play-offs a tense battle after beating nearest rivals Stirling Albion 2-1 at the weekend.

The gap between Annan and the Binos sits at four points and Nugent was a constant menace down the wing.

MID - Mo Sylla (Dundee)

Scott Tiffoney may have got two goals but the undoubted star of the show at Dens Park was Sylla, who dominated the midfield area as Dundee defeated Ross County 2-0 in the cinch Premiership.

MID - Mohamed Diomande (Rangers)

A thoroughly impressive performance from the January signing, including an excellently-taken opening goal, helped Rangers to a 3-0 win over St Johnstone and three points which have moved the Light Blues to the top of the cinch Premiership table.

MID - Taylor Steven (Alloa Athletic)

A tremendous second-half showing from the Wasps saw them defeat Cove Rangers 4-1, to go third in cinch League 1. Steven scored twice and won a penalty which Scott Taggart converted.

FWD - Anton Dowds (Ayr United)

This week's Star Man comes from the second tier as Dowds' hat-trick enabled Ayr United to defeat Airdrieonians 3-2 away from home. The Honest Men have won three of their last four league games under Scott Brown, moving them away from the relegation battle and up to fifth in the cinch Championship.

FWD - Ross MacIver (Falkirk)

Falkirk have one hand on the cinch League One title after defeating closest challengers Hamilton Accies 3-2 at home to move 11 points clear with a game in hand. They held on for victory after Accies fought back from 3-0 down to set up a tense finish. MacIver scored and provided one assist in a huge triumph.
