Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his SPFL XI...

GK – Balint Demus (Cove Rangers)

A dominant first-half performance from Dumbarton was foiled by Cove Rangers' shot stopper as Paul Hartley's men produced a 3-0 win to keep them top of William Hill League 1. Demus was the hero of the opening 45 minutes and remained a composed figure throughout.

DEF – Lewis McArthur (Edinburgh City)

Forfar put the hosts under a lot of pressure at Meadowbank in their William Hill League 2 encounter but couldn't find a way to goal as City ran out 2-0 winners. McArthur was excellent at the back as Michael McIndoe's men defended their box very well.

DEF – Lee Ashcroft (Partick Thistle)

Another strong centre-back display came at East End Park as Ashcroft played a crucial role in ensuring Partick Thistle kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 triumph over Dunfermline in the William Hill Championship.

DEF – Jack Murray (Elgin City)

Elgin moved level on points with East Fife at the top of William Hill League 2 as the 10 men held off a spirited showing from Stranraer to win 1-0. Murray got the only goal of the game and put in a key performance at the back.

MID – Calvin Miller (Falkirk)

A goal and two assists from the midfielder helped Falkirk to cement their place as William Hill Championship league leaders with a thumping 6-0 victory over Greenock Morton which takes them six points clear at the summit.

MID – Connor Smith (Hamilton Accies)

Accies won handsomely for the second game in succession as they defeated Airdrieonians 4-0. Smith was involved in each and every one of Accies' goals, including scoring the first with a great strike from the edge of the area and crossing for Dylan McGowan to score the fourth.

MID – Connor Barron (Rangers)

Rangers overturned a 1-0 half-time deficit to reach the Premier Sports Cup final via a 2-1 triumph over Motherwell. Barron put in an industrious and enthusiastic display in the centre of the field, setting up Cyriel Dessers for the equaliser.

MID – Fraser Taylor (Arbroath)

Taylor netted the only goal of the game with a strike of real quality and stood above everyone else in the midfield area as Arbroath defeated Stenhousemuir 1-0.

MID – Ziyad Larkeche (Dundee)

Another dramatic goal-fest between Dundee and Kilmarnock at Dens Park. Last time out Killie snatched a late win but it was a role reversal this time around. Larkeche got the injury-time winner and was the most threatening Dundee player throughout the contest as he routinely charged forward from wing-back.

FWD – Luke Donnelly (Alloa Athletic)

Two unbelievable goals from the attacker helped Alloa Athletic on their way as Andy Graham's side put in arguably their best performance of the season to blow Annan Athletic away with a 5-0 victory at the Indodrill.

FWD – Daizen Maeda (Celtic)

This week's Star Man was the hat-trick hero for Celtic as they thumped Aberdeen 6-0 to book their place in the Premier Sports Cup final. The Japan international showed great skill, speed and awareness to net his treble while causing panic amongst the Dons' defence.
