Team of the Week

A View from the Terrace's Craig Fowler's William Hill SPFL XI

GK – Ross Sinclair (St Johnstone)

With January signing Andy Fisher unavailable, Sinclair was thrust back between the sticks for Saturday's William Hill Premiership encounter with St Mirren in Paisley. The young stopper put in a commanding showing and made a crucial late save from a shot that, though initially flagged for offside, would have counted as a goal with a VAR check as St Johnstone recorded back-to-back league victories.

DEF – Kelsey Ewen (Stenhousemuir)

Making his first start since November, you wouldn't have known it from Ewen's performance as he breezed through his side's 3-0 victory away to Montrose that put Stenny back to the top of William Hill League 1.

DEF – Joe Wright (Kilmarnock)

Killie got themselves a much-needed victory on Saturday evening, defeating Dundee United 1-0 to move up to ninth in the William Hill Premiership. Wright was superb at the back, further forward as an aerial threat and, well, everywhere really.

DEF – Danny Wilson (Livingston)

Livingston hauled themselves right back into the thick of the William Hill Championship title race with a 2-1 victory away at previous table-toppers Falkirk. Wilson was superb at the back, both in a four-man defence but especially once Livi moved to a three, as David Martindale's side claimed all three points on Friday night.

DEF – Lyall Booth (Elgin City)

Elgin gave their William Hill League Two title hopes a shot in the arm with a 1-0 home win over top-of-the-table East Fife. Allan Hale's side still trail by eight points but have two games in hand. Booth was excellent down the left and put in the cross for Kyle Girvan to score the game's only goal.

MID – Malik Zaid (Edinburgh City)

A goal, an assist and an excellent performance from the Hibs loanee helped Edinburgh City to win a thriller in the capital, defeating Stirling Albion 4-3 and showing that there is plenty of life left in this team after the departure of Connor Young to Dunfermline Athletic.

MID – Cammy Devlin (Hearts)

Hearts got themselves the most eye-catching result of the weekend as they won 6-0 at Dundee to close in on a top-six spot. Elton Kabangu may have scored twice and ran Dundee ragged up front, but the best player on the park was Devlin, who dominated the midfield area for the Jambos.

MID – Ianis Hagi (Rangers)

Two goals and a polished performance from the Romanian put Rangers on the road to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Ross County as Philippe Clement's men kept up their dominant home form in the William Hill Premiership.

MID – Daizen Maeda (Celtic)

The Japanese international was the key difference maker for Celtic on Sunday as they won 3-1 at Motherwell to keep their healthy advantage at the top of the table. Maeda scored the opener inside a minute and created Celtic's other two goals.

FWD – Chris Kane (Dunfermline Athletic)

This week's Star Man comes from the Fife derby as Michael Tidser's men defeated rivals Raith Rovers 3-1. Kane helped himself to a hat-trick, including two penalties, as the Pars moved up the William Hill Championship table.

FWD – Tommy Muir (Annan Athletic)

A late scratch from last week's team, we couldn't dismiss Tommy's two-goal heroics for a second week in succession as the defender-turned-forward was the difference maker as Annan Athletic won 3-1 at Kelty Hearts to stay above Inverness CT in the William Hill League One relegation battle.
