Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his William Hill SPFL XI

GK – Jamie Smith (Annan Athletic)

Annan gave their William Hill League 1 survival hopes a real shot in the arm by going to in-form Inverness CT and winning 1-0. Paul Smith scored inside three minutes with one of Annan's only two shots on goal as they dug in to claim victory thanks, in no small part, to the performance of their goalkeeper.

DEF – Jordan McGhee (Dundee)

This week's Star Man comes from Sunday's Dundee derby where the Dark Blues got a long-awaited away victory over rivals United at Tannadice and a hugely important three points in their fight to remain in the top flight. McGhee scored two goals, put in a tireless shift assisting the attack and also impressed defensively in the 4-2 triumph.

DEF – Luke McBeth (Partick Thistle)

A goal and a robust performance from the defender aided Partick Thistle as they produced arguably their best performance of the William Hill Championship season in the 2-0 home victory against Ayr United.

DEF – Michael Steinwender (Hearts)

Hearts immediately returned to the top six in the William Hill Premiership following Saturday's 2-0 win over Ross County. The Jambos' efforts were aided by a cool, calm and collected showing from January signing Steinwender at the back.

MID – Calvin Miller (Falkirk)

Falkirk extended their advantage in the William Hill Championship title race after a 4-0 away win at Queen's Park in what proved to be Callum Davidson's last game in charge of the Spiders. Miller grabbed one of the four goals and was a constant menace on the wing.

MID – Nico Raskin (Rangers)

Scorer of the opening goal in Sunday's derby win, Raskin played a huge role in Rangers registering their first victory at Celtic Park since October 2020 as Barry Ferguson's men ran out 3-2 winners.

MID – Callum Slattery (Motherwell)

Two goals and a man-of-the-match performance from the midfielder, who only recently returned from injury, enabled Motherwell to pull back a two-goal deficit for a share of the spoils with St Mirren at Fir Park.

MID – Sena Niang (Dumbarton)

Dumbarton produced a plucky performance against William Hill League 1 leaders Arbroath with Niang standing out to home and away supporters alike with a dominant midfield display.

MID – Kai Kennedy (Queen of the South)

Ultimately the scorer of the winning goal and a real thorn in the side of Queens' visitors, Kennedy played a key role as Peter Murphy's side closed the gap on visitors Alloa Athletic in the final William Hill League 1 play-off spot with a 3-2 victory at Palmerston.

FWD – Finlay Pollock (Raith Rovers)

Bragging rights in the Fife derby are back at Stark's Park after a comfortable 2-0 win for Raith Rovers over Dunfermline Athletic on Friday night. Pollock netted the opener and enjoyed one of his best games in a Rovers jersey.

FWD – Deryn Lang (Stranraer)

'Bang, bang' Deryn Lang netted twice in what was one of the most eye-catching results in the William Hill SPFL this weekend. Table toppers East Fife could do nothing to stop Stranraer as Lang shone in a 3-0 triumph for the Blues.
