Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his SPFL XI after the weekend's games...

GK – Trevor Carson (Dundee)

Dundee got themselves a huge three points in their fight for survival this past weekend, winning 1-0 at Tynecastle thanks, largely, to the heroics of their goalkeeper. Carson made two brilliant first-half saves and repelled Kenneth Vargas' late effort.

DEF – Charlie Dewar (Alloa Athletic)

Alloa have moved into the final play-off position in William Hill League One this past weekend with one round of fixtures to go thanks to a 2-1 victory over Montrose. Dewar was a driving factor in the win as Andy Graham's men recovered from a goal down.

DEF – Alfie Dorrington (Aberdeen)

Both of Aberdeen's centre-backs impressed during the 1-0 victory over Hibs as Jimmy Thelin's side managed to end their visitors' 17-game unbeaten run in the William Hill Premiership.

DEF – Dan O’Reilly (Partick Thistle)

The defender was superb on Friday night as Partick Thistle and Falkirk played out a classic in front of the BBC Scotland cameras. The Jags, despite being reduced to 10 men in the first half, were able to deny Falkirk all but claiming the William Hill Championship title, while significantly boosting their promotion aspirations with a last-gasp 2-1 victory.

MID – Keith Bray (Inverness CT)

A goal and another excellent performance from the youngster helped Inverness Caledonian Thistle to secure their League One status with a comfortable 3-0 triumph over champions Arbroath in the Highlands.

MID – Reece Lyon (Queen of the South)

The form team in the third tier were able to confirm their place in the play-offs this past weekend with a 2-0 home win over Stenhousemuir. While many players impressed further forward, Lyon was key to setting the table with his influence from deeper in the midfield.

MID – Peter Pawlett (Peterhead)

Peterhead are champions of William Hill League Two thanks to a 1-0 win over title rivals East Fife at Balmoor. Pawlett netted a very Peter Pawlett-esque goal to secure their promotion to the third tier and earns a place in this team as a result.

MID – Dajon Golding (Elgin City)

The attacker put in a good shift and netted a goal of the season contender for the SPFL with an incredible run and finish from deep inside his own half as Elgin City confirmed their place in the play-offs with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Stranraer.

FWD – Nicolas Kuhn (Celtic)

Celtic are William Hill Premiership champions again after a 5-0 rout over Dundee United at Tannadice in the first post-split fixture. Kuhn shook off a recent dip in form to net twice within the first 45 minutes to give Brendan Rodgers' side a healthy 3-0 advantage which they wouldn't relinquish.

FWD – Bruce Anderson (Kilmarnock)

Killie were another side to earn a huge victory in their survival hopes on Saturday, defeating fellow strugglers Ross County 2-0 at Rugby Park. Anderson led the line superbly and scored his side's opening goal.

FWD – Tony Watt (Motherwell)

He may not have got on the scoresheet but Watt was central to everything good Motherwell did in an attacking sense in their 3-2 win against St Johnstone, a result which all but confirms their safety in the top flight.
