Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from a View from the Terrace selects his SPFL Team of the Week, with Aberdeen winger Jesper Karlsson the star man...

GK – Ross Stewart (Queen of the South)
Queens earned a much-needed victory after three consecutive William Hill League 1 defeats. Michael Hewitt was the hero with a late winner against Alloa but the home side were thankful to Stewart for keeping the score at 0-0 with some earlier stops.

DEF – James Brown (Kilmarnock)
A fine performance from the impressive summer signing, including an assist for Killie's second goal, helped Stuart Kettlewell's side to a comfortable 2-0 victory over St Mirren - a result which moves them up to third place in the William Hill Premiership.

DEF – Craig Halkett (Heart of Midlothian)
The hero of the Edinburgh derby. Halkett was already the best player on the pitch for his fine defensive work when he netted in the 91st minute to take the roof off Tynecastle and help his side defeat rivals Hibs.

DEF – Edin Lynch (Edinburgh City)
Both Edinburgh derbies were decided by a single goal on Saturday with City putting themselves back to zero points following their 15-point deduction after a 1-0 triumph at Spartans. Jack Duncan got the goal but we’ve opted for Lynch, who was a rock at the back.

DEF – Leon McCann (Falkirk)
A tireless display going forward and an excellent defensive performance enabled McCann to stand out during Falkirk's 1-1 draw with Rangers on Sunday, a result which proved to be the end for Ibrox boss Russell Martin.

MID – Connor McManus (East Fife)
The Fifers’ strong start to life in League 1 continued with a 2-0 home victory over strugglers Cove Rangers, a result which keeps them in the play-off places. McManus, who has been in strong form of late, was the pick of the bunch for the home side.

MID – Scott McGill (Stenhousemuir)
Scorer of a terrific goal and someone who always made himself available for a pass in the engine room as Stenny kept up their promotion push with a 3-1 home win against Montrose.

MID – Kyle MacDonald (Hamilton Accies)
Accies are top of the League 1 table on goal difference after beating previous leaders Inverness CT with a 3-1 win in Cumbernauld. MacDonald put in a hard-working shift in the middle of the park and got himself on the scoresheet.

MID – Michael Garrity (Greenock Morton)
A quality performance from the wide player, including an assist for the winning goal, helped Greenock Morton pick up their first victory of the William Hill Championship season, beating Airdrieonians 2-1 away from home.

FW – Jesper Karlsson (Aberdeen)
A stunning performance from the Bologna loanee helped get Aberdeen off the mark, both in terms of victories and goals, in the William Hill Premiership. The Swede netted twice, including the opener, as the Dons thrashed Dundee 4-0 at Pittodrie. Karlsson created six chances in addition to his two goals and was an easy choice for Star Man this week.

FW – Ronan Hale (Ross County)
Ross County were another big fish who got off the mark with a league victory this past weekend, defeating Raith Rovers 2-0 in Dingwall. Hale led the line superbly and put the finishing touches on the 2-0 win with a late goal.
