Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his William Hill SPFL XI...

GK – Cammy Gill (Montrose)

The keeper made several important stops to keep his side in the game at 1-0 down as Montrose overcame an early deficit to defeat William Hill League One leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Links Park.

DEF – Matty Douglas (Queen of the South)

The first of, not one, not two, but three players in this SPFL Team of the Week to score a hat-trick this past weekend. Douglas did his from defence, but, perhaps harshly, that is not enough to get Star Man honours despite his role in Queens' 4-1 triumph over Hamilton Academical.

DEF – Craig Clay (Kelty Hearts)

Though he may have been back in his natural position of midfield this past weekend, we've shoved Clay into the makeshift position he's been filling for Kelty after he got the club's man-of-the-match honours following a 1-0 win at East Fife. It was their first victory in the league since September.

DEF – Billy Koumetio (Dundee)

The centre-back impressed as Dundee got themselves a crucial victory in their bid to avoid the drop in the William Hill Premiership, beating Falkirk 1-0 at Dens Park.

MID – Benjamin Nygren (Celtic)

A double from the midfielder helped Celtic move back to within three points of the top of the Premiership table as they defeated Livingston 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.

MID – Kyle Banner (Stiring Albion)

Stirling continued their revival in William Hill League Two with a 2-1 away victory at fellow strugglers Dumbarton. Banner laid on both goals, including Adam Brown's late winner.

MID – Chris Hamilton (Dunfermline Athletic)

A captain's performance from the local hero helped Dunfermline Athletic to bragging rights in the Fife derby as they went to Raith Rovers and left with a 2-1 victory.

MID – Adam Emslie (Cove Rangers)

Emslie was the star player on show as Cove Rangers kept up their League One revival with a 4-0 away thumping of Peterhead. The Wee Rangers have now scored nine goals in their last two league games.

FWD – Kieron Bowie (Hibernian)

The Edinburgh derby belonged to hosts Hibs on Saturday as they defeated Hearts 3-2 in a barnstorming encounter at Easter Road. Several men in green and white deserved a place in this team, but we've opted for Bowie for scoring the eventual winner and being a constant menace to the Hearts defence.

FWD – Mark Stowe (The Spartans)

The second player in the team to net a hat-trick and not be awarded the Star Man honour – and in a local derby too! Stowe scored all three of his side's goals as The Spartans defeated Edinburgh City 3-1 to extend their lead at the top of League 2 to five points.

FWD – Scott Shepherd (Forfar Athletic)

Finally, we come to this week's Star Man. When all those around you are scoring three, stand out that little bit more by scoring four. That's what Shepherd managed to do as he claimed each and every one of Forfar Athletic's goals as they managed to defeat Elgin City 4-2 and move to within a point of the play-offs in League Two.
