The summer transfer window has closed in Scotland with clubs working until the last minute to add to their squads.
Celtic signed three new players on the final day with Arne Engels the headline arrival from FC Augsburg before being joined by defender Auston Trusty and Dundee's Luke McCowan. There were two departures from Glasgow's east end with Mikey Johnston leaving to join West Bromwich Albion on a permanent basis while Tomoki Iwata joining Birmingham City.
Motherwell made their 16th and 17th signings of the close season with Jack Vale returning on loan from Blackburn Rovers after spending the last few months of the 2023/24 season at Fir Park while Jair Tavares joined on a season-long loan deal from Hibernian. Young Motherwell striker Luca Ross moved on a loan deal to William Hill League One side Annan Athletic.
Rangers added to their defensive ranks with the arrival of Neraysho Kasanwirjo on loan from Feyenoord with an option to buy next summer. The Ibrox side also managed to complete a deal to bring Nedim Bajrami in from Italian side Sassuolo. Earlier in the day, Scott Wright brought down the curtain on his time at Ibrox as he signed for Birmingham City. Another player leaving Glasgow is Todd Cantwell, who has joined Blackburn Rovers.
Three promising young players exited the top flight with St. Mirren’s Ethan Sutherland switching to English Premier League side Wolves where he'll be joined by Dundee's Sebastian Lochhead. Dundee United’s Brandon Forbes is a Norwich City player after making a big impression in the Premier Sports Cup group stage with that memorable debut free-kick winner against Ayr United.
St. Mirren were able to add a player before the deadline with striker Kevin van Veen sealing a loan move from FC Groningen.
Jason Holt has secured a return to St. Johnstone, where he enjoyed a loan spell in the 2019/20 season. Meanwhile Taylor Steven, who enjoyed a strong loan stint with Alloa Athletic last term, has made the temporary move from Perth to Cliftonville of Northern Ireland. Fellow academy player Joe Ellison heads to Berwick Rangers on loan until January.
Nectar Triantis is back for a second spell at Hibernian on loan from Sunderland while the final deal of deadline day saw Jack Iredale arrive from Bolton Wanderers. Allan Delferrière has swapped Easter Road for a loan move to Luxembourg as he moves to Racing Union Lëtzebuerg for the duration of the campaign.
Ross County concluded their business by allowing young prospect George Robeston to join Highland League Brora Rangers on loan while Aberdeen released Jayden Richardson.
Dundee United were on the hunt for a new attacker and they got their man with Sam Dalby joining on loan from Wrexham. United allowed Liam Grimshaw to become a free agent before the window closed after the versatile defender helped the club win last season's Championship title.
Staying in Tayside and Dundee announced Oluwaseun Adewumi would be joining the club on loan from Burnley shortly before news of Luke McCowan's departure to Celtic was confirmed.
In the William Hill Championship, Livingston goalkeeper Shamal George has joined Wycombe Wanderers after the English League One team triggered a release clause in the shot stopper's contract. He's been replaced by Marcelo Pitaluga on a season-long loan from Liverpool.
Elsewhere in the second tier, Ayr United have announced the signing of defender Connor McAvoy on loan from Fulham. Hamilton Academical allowed Connor Murray to join Coleraine until January.
In William Hill League 1, Queen of the South struck a deal with Middlesbrough to take forward Pharrell Willis on loan. Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Duncan Ferguson has used his Premier League contacts to secure the services of James Nolan on loan from Manchester United.
Arbroath got in on the action with the arrival of the experienced Ryan Flynn from St. Mirren along with central defender Brynn Sinclair from New Zealand on a one-year deal. Aaron Steele has committed to making the transfer to fellow William Hill League 1 side Stenhousemuir on a season-long loan.
And there was action in William Hill League 2 as Riley Haston made the move to Bonnyrigg Rose from Haddington Athletic.
